Position Overview

4Front, a rapidly expanding national leader in the growing state-legal medical marijuana licensing sector, seeks a full-time, exempt Talent Directorto support all of its operations in the US. This position reports to 4Front’s leadership team and is responsible for working with the executive team to determine the composition and content of the workforce required to position the organization for current and future business objectives. The Talent Director is also responsible for overseeing the day to day functioning of a compliant HR department including: recruiting, hiring, and on-boarding of employees; managing employee records; conducting regular audits to ensure accuracy; updating organizational charts; and ensuring compliance in all states with employment laws.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop a staffing plan based on assessed needs and implement that plan once it has been approved by leadership
  • Conduct regular audits of employee records and ensure records are maintained in a compliant manner
  • Work with leadership team and supervisors to draft job descriptions for new positions and to amend job descriptions as needed as roles evolve
  • Assist supervisors in hiring new employees including posting job announcements on job boards, collecting resumes, and overseeing interviewing process
  • Work closely with employee handbook company to create handbooks in each market, and amend as necessary
  • Remain up to date on all employment law changes in each operational state and recommend amended employment practices as needed
  • Manage HR department staff
  • Oversee all in-market employment records and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance
  • Advise management on termination issues, disciplinary process, and involuntary separation
  • Screen, interview and hire applicants
  • For all licensed entities, complete all agent registration applications and renewals; monitor dispensing organization agent identification expiration dates
  • Provide all employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, and employee benefits
  • Conduct new employee orientation for all staff
  • Maintain organized and comprehensive records of all employees
  • Oversee the administration of employee health insurance program
  • Create and organize performance management systems, including a recurring performance evaluation process and corrective action process
  • Administer and ensure the understanding of corrective action procedures for all employees
  • Mediate employee disputes
  • Facilitate ongoing training for all staff, as needed
  • Facilitate the ongoing development of leadership skills for all licensed facility management
  • Communicate regularly with the Bookkeeper to ensure accurate payroll records, and the preparation of personnel budgets
  • Communicate regularly with the General Managers regarding staff activities
  • Research and select compensation and benefits policies to ensure legal compliance, maintain a positive work environment, and promote the integrity of the dispensary
  • Oversee the conduction of performance evaluations

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Zenefits, other HR Platforms and Internet tools
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or five years experience in human resources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer relations skills
  • Ability to quickly assimilate relevant state laws and employment rights and requirements
  • Basic computer operating skills; working knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and achieve demonstrable results

Preferred Skills/Abilities

  • Prior experience overseeing a rapidly-expanding human resources department with employees in multiple work settings
  • Prior experience leading human resource strategy for a multi-brand portfolio
  • Prior experience developing staffing plans
